We mine our contacts to generate demand for quality consulting arrangements and reach out to you when a client need matches your skillset.

COACHING

Prior to meeting with one of our clients, we provide coaching on how to create a winning pitch that aligns with your high-level of experience and pedigree.

negotiations

We negotiate rates on your behalf based on our proven formula for calculating market rate. We provide all legal terms and contracts for both parties to sign.

administration

We provide an easy-to-use web-based platform to track your hours and manage your monthly P&Ls. We also handle all invoicing and collections for our consultants so you never have to chase payments from clients.

OUR PROCESS

CREATING A PROFILE

All potential consultants create a profile to be added to our Consultant Network. As client opportunities flow in, The Upside screens all potential consultants for applicable experience in their specific field, length of experience and future goals. By understanding where you're coming from and where you want to be, we can ensure that all of our consultants/client matches are set up for success.

MATCHING

The Upside uses its extensive business network to source clients that can benefit from having a best-in-class consultant on their team. When a client request matches with your background, we set up a call to determine if there is a mutual fit between you and our client. Not every candidate passes our vetting process; however, those candidates with a focused skill set, confidence and a strong desire for having more independence and flexibility in their careers make ideal consultants. 

PITCHING

Once we determine there is a direct fit with one of our clients, The Upside coaches you on how to pitch your business and what you can expect from your client relationship in terms of hours, earnings, challenges and rewards. Pitching a consultancy is quite different from a traditional interview, and we provide you with the tools to maximize your chances for closing the deal.

NEGOTIATING

Once a match is made, The Upside negotiates all terms and pay rate on the consultant's behalf, and provides all legal contracts for both parties. Once all terms are agreed upon, our consultant starts to work. The Upside collects an ongoing service fee reflected on the client invoice.

CLIENT ONBOARDING and PAYMENTS

Once officially working with one of our clients, The Upside invoices your clients on a monthly basis, and provides them with valuable reports that outline exactly how your time has been utilized. Typically, we collect the invoice amount from the client within five days and transfer the funds into your account within the following week. With The Upside, you never have to chase client payments.

COMMUNITY

The Upside also offers a members-only online community called The Upside of Work, designed specifically for women freelancers, consultants and independent contractors. Members of The Upside of Work pool resources, share best practices and crowdsource solutions with the ultimate goal of helping one another achieve a successful and fulfilling independent consultancy.
